My New Booth!!

Hello All,

I went today and moved my booth like I had said!

It came out GREAT and I LOVE my new space!!

I am excited!

I still have lots of tweaking to do and decorating, but today was just moving day!

I can not wait to really get in there and make it look Prim Perfect!

It was a decent space, but no room for big items and
not a lot of width to it.

Anyone else have a booth? Anyone have any advice for mine?

What I Have I Been Doing?

Hello All,

I wanted to check in and see how everyone has been and share some things!

Well to start we got notice that we have to move...

this came as quite a surprise, but like it or not it is what it is.

I hate moving and packing and finding a place etc..

I am however excited because I will be moving closer to my family

and my booth and local to all shopping needs also.

We are currently 30+ min from all of those things now

which creates some issues some days!

Anyway, the booth is doing great and I love having it!

It gives me a reason to hunt for goodies to fill it up and a reason to make things also!

Tomorrow I will be moving from one space in the shop to another bigger space,

I wanted more floor space and the current spot I am in doesn't off that.

I will be sure to share lots of pics when I am done!

I have been doing a little creating lately I am not really big

on Valentines and Easter crafting, but I have made a couple things!

We also got a puppy he is half lab half husky!

We named his Raja and he is just adorable!

Well having him inspired me to make a few things,

I made him a leash hanger as we seem to keep losing the leash!

Then I took and old blanket and made him a dog bed, he seems to like it!

So, those are a few things I have made recently!

I listed them on Etsy and I also made some bunnies for the booth!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!

As we say goodbye to another year, there is always

those moments that we will remember.

I was looking around online and seeing all 2011 year in reviews,

and was thinking of how much has happened just in 2011!

Here is a recap of some of 2011:

White Pumpkins Are Where It Is At!!

Here are some 2x4 white pumpkins I made!

Here is a little history of the white pumpkin!

Here in New England, white pumpkins, once a novelty, are becoming increasingly common, and these intriguing white orbs are all the rage when it comes to chic autumn decorating.

These albinos with natural white skin have been bred by pumpkin growers, and seeds for specific varieties, such as Lumina, Cotton Candy or miniature Baby Boo, can be purchased and planted. Gardening shops online, for example, have Lumina white pumpkin seeds available for online ordering. White pumpkins must be planted after the risk of frost has passed, and they take about 90 days to grow.

So, what can you do with a white pumpkin? They're great for carving and even better for painting. They provide great contrast in fall gourd and pumpkin displays. They're elegant unadorned as a table centerpiece, as you'll see in this Martha Stewart Living photo from 2003: She's always ahead of the curve! Monogrammed white pumpkins are even being used as wedding decorations.

Hello Everyone!!

Has it really been a month since I have blogged??

Ugh, I am so bad!

I have been so busy I have just had no time for anything!

As you know I have rented a booth and have been

creating like a mad woman trying to get it filled up!!

I really enjoy having a place to bring my stuff and sell it.

I love selling online too, but I get

frustrated with picture taking

and shipping and packaging etc.

I still have my Etsy shop and plan

on keeping it stocked especially for the holidays!

Ok, enough business stuff because it can get boring lol!!

I have been busy painting in my house I re-did my hallway and office area.

I re-did a really nice table, which came out AWESOME!! If I do say so myself!!

Hubby is home this week, he is fixing my hot mess of a car,

from when I got in an accident in January!

Ya 10 months ago and it still isn't fixed!! Money is tight and so is time.

My car is at his parents house which is an hour drive

from home so getting there has been an issue.

I am hoping it will be back and running SOON!!

I hate not having my car, I am driving our truck

now but it is AWFUL!! I like cars and with gas prices,

I REALLY like cars!!

Advice & A Creating Addiction!

Hi I am Janice, and I am a crafting addict!

Except I don't want any treatment LOL!!

I have been crafting like CRAZY the last few weeks.

I am trying to get my booth all filled up

and ready for Fall/Halloween.

That way I can give myself

plenty of time for Christmas creating!

I know it seems kind of far off, but it will be here before we know it!!

It is hard to find someone who is willing to give a hand.

I have actually been looking into opening my own shop!

My Mother mentioned it to me the other day

and offered her help, financially and physically!!

How can I turn that down???

So, I have been writing up a business plan and

looking into ideas and options.

I don't want to just jump into something like that it is a

BIG step, and I don't want to mess it up!

I want to do something similar to renting space to

other crafters and maybe antique dealers.

Charging a monthly fee, no consignments.

Anyone Have Any Ideas or Suggestions?

Maybe some real life experience you can share?

A Booth Rental, A Swap and A CAW Project!

Good Morning Blogger Friends!!

Hope everyone is doing well!!

I have been busy busy busy!!

I rented a space at a local Antique Shop to sell my handmades!

I am going tomorrow to fill it up, I hope I have enough stuff made...it is a large space.

I also got a great spot in the store too, its right when you first walk in the door!!

I will be taking pictures of it tomorrow when I go and I will share them.

I recently participated in another swap at Prim Pals Forum

It was a Thrifty Kind Of Gal swap, we had to swap items from

thrift stores or yard sales etc..What a fun swap!

My partner was Lil' Raggedy Angie Yay!!

I am so excited, just look at what she sent me!!

I loved it all!! Angie is such a sweetie! Thank You So Much Angie!

The girls from Prim Pals Forum are doing a neat project called

Create A Witch

(CAW)

One of our members Kookie created this witch body

Mary Goodwart is her name!

Then we all signed up to have a chance to add something to her, secretly

that is. We all would do what we wanted to her and then take a teaser picture

and post that picture on the forum! That is the fun part LOL!!

We also have the C.A.W. project going on....what is C.A.W. you ask?

Well it is "Create A Witch" one of our wonderful members Kookie

created a witch body, and we are sending around this witch body to our members

each member adds an item to the witch and takes a photo of just the part they did.

A small picture at that. No one will see her complete until she gets back to Kookie who

will then photograph her as a whole and post her picture. Once she reaches Kookie we will be

doing some sort of giveaway to win her! We have named her Mary Goodwart, and she arrived at my house

the other day! I will do my part to her, sign her and send her on her way!

I am so excited!

I also wanted to brag a minute about my friend Deb!

Deb makes the cutest things and her talent is amazing!

Happy Tuesday on Wednesday!

Yesterday I spent the day here ^ and it was awesome!

I took all the kids and my Mom and headed for the beach,

on our way we found my MIL and she came too!! We had a great time!

He played in all the tide pools and found a ton of shells

and he threw rocks in the water over n over!

The older kids do not let me take pics..=(

Teenagers Ugh!

Before we went to the beach, we had to stop at the hospital..

My BF had her baby on Monday, so I had to visit the little guy.

Yard Sale-Swaps and A Half Finished Project

Today I had a yard/craft sale at my house.

It was rather slow I did make a little bit of money, and it was fun!

I also got to give out my business cards which is always a good thing.

Hello Out There.....

Hello...I miss all of you!!

It has been so long since I have written. Summer is just flying by,

actually this whole year has!!

I have been busy with the kids and school and swaps etc..

We had a great visit, and will be getting together again in October!

Ending Our Elementary Years......

My oldest son Zachary will be graduating 8th grade on June 22nd (OMG)

High school is just a few months away.........

I am full of all sorts of strange emotions, he is growing up so fast.

(Where does the time go.....)

He is 14 going on 40 I swear. He has turned into an amazing young man.

(I don't say this because he is mine either..lol)

He just truly is....since the day he was born.

He slept through the night from day one,walked at 9 months and

potty trained by 2! He was just the best baby never cried or whined

always happy and smiling. I could and did take him anywhere and everywhere.

He has signed up to do an internship this summer at a very reputable equine clinic

and got the position. He rides his horses nearly everyday and does shows and

competitions and just loves anything that has to do with horses.

Yesterday he went to Boston, Massachusetts for his class trip.

They went on the DUCK Tour , which sounds AWESOME!!

Then his group went to the New England Aquarium and

Hard Rock Cafe for lunch and some shopping.

After, the whole grade met again and went to see Blue Man Group!!

Then dinner at Fire & Ice and dessert in the North End Boston!

What a lucky little guy he is was!! He said he had a great time!!

He said Blue Man Group was AMAZING, and that dinner was cool.

All in all he a a fantastic day!! What a great way to end the year!

I also am happy to announce I also graduate this month,

I will have my Associates Degree in Business Management!

One long road finally coming to an end,

we will be having a party to celebrate both graduations!!

I Love My Mail Lady and Other Stuff!

Hello Friends!! I hope everyone is having a good summer so far!

I am, we are working on getting our pool up and working.

We have been doing lots of yard work and painting and cleaning.

Winter takes such a toll on everything....and we didn't really have a

spring here it was cold an rainy so we had limited time outside.

I also have received some treasures in the mail!! I soo love that mail lady!!

First one was from Traci at York Mountain Primitives

I won her giveaway! It was this cute little prairie stump doll!

I love it! I have her in my kitchen in my cranberry rake!

Then a few weeks ago I was blog surfing and saw

the cutest beeskep Jeans Blog Prim Crafts that she had made.

We talked and decided to do a swap.

Why I Love My Internet Friends!

I Love Thrift Stores!

Hello, hope you all had a great day!

I know I did!

Well, aside from the usual boring errands

I stopped at two of my favorite thrift stores and I found some GREAT goodies!

I found this pitcher it is huge and heavy!

I loved it, and thought it could hold some flowers!

On the way home I stopped and picked some Forsythia to fill it up!

Pretty!

I also found this stuff:

A large chalk board with a burgundy frame,

black metal shelf, utensil crock, wrought iron spoon and fork and

last but not least a small peg shelf with square nails for pegs

The shelf and spoon and fork need paint, the peg rack is perfect.

The utensil crock I am not sure about yet, but for 99c how can you pass it up!

I am totally loving the chalk board as is, but may need to spruce it up!

In total I spent $10.00 not bad for the stuff I got!

It was a fun trip and definitely worth it!

I love thrift stores!!

Hello Friends!

I had a VERY good and busy weekend!

I made a headboard for my bed

I took step by step pictures and will make a tutorial soon!

I also made a throw pillow for the bed

and a wreath to hang off the headboard!

I also made, a framed poem and a painted tray!

I got the idea for the tray from a blog

I visited the other day!

Where I have been.......

I have been MIA for quite sometime, and wanted to say Hello to you all. I see I have a bunch of new followers and I am super excited about that!! It has been a rough few weeks for my family and I. We had some unexpected loses of some very close people in our lives. It started on February 27th when my sons Grandfather passed away, then the following Sunday March 6th they lost a cousin and then the next Saturday March 12th we lost a very close family friend. We have just been living in complete shock and disbelief. I have never seen such tragedy so close like this in my life. I myself have just lost motivation to do anything, no crafting no blogging no nothing. I just feel so sad and empty inside. In the midst of all of this I have been doing some serious thinking about life and love and friends and family and have realized that life is to short. I think about all the missed opportunities and brief goodbyes and hectic lives and not making time for those people we love and care about. In my life that sort of thing is not going to happen anymore as much as I can prevent it. We are not guaranteed tomorrow and today is a gift. I want to live knowing I myself have lived to my fullest and enjoyed my life family and friends. I will never miss an opportunity to say I love you or spend some time with friends and family. Every little second counts and I am going to use ALL of mine! It has also opened my eyes to thinking about my health and that I should be taking better care of me so I can be here for many more years. I know I am young but that does not change anything, the above people we lost were 60, 40, 39 all of those are young way to young! I keep thinking about this saying.

"Don't get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life."

How true are those words, we all need and want and work so hard to fill those needs and wants that sometimes we all forget what is really important. We can have all the latest gizmo's and gadgets and big house and nice cars, none of which we can take with us when its our time to go. The only think you can take with you are your memories, nothing else will matter at that point. Sure you can leave it all to your family, but that is not going to make them feel better or miss you any less or comfort them. The things that will comfort them are not things at all, it is your memories you leave them with the time you spent with them the impact you left on their lives. I think what impact will I leave on my loved ones what will they remember me for?? What would they say after I was gone? What memories will they talk about? What kind of impact will I have on them when I am not here? What have I taught them? These are questions I have no answers to, but I am going to do my best at leaving a good impact and memories on those I care about. I want to live my life to the fullest and do the things I love and try new things and share it all with everyone!! I want to thank all of you because I love to come here and read all your blogs, some make me laugh and others inspire me and some have made me cry, it is great to see so much sharing and caring all going on here. It is truly amazing!

1. What is the name of your Etsy shop and why did you choose that name?

Hello!

My Etsy shop is Happy Valley Primitives

I live out in the country in a very rural community known as Happy Valley to the locals.

We enjoy several lakes around us and a vast array of agricultural and dairy farms.

It truly is a beautiful and tranquil area.

It just seemed fitting to call my shop by such a cheerful name!

2. How long have you been on Etsy?

I started my Etsy shop in September, 2009

after much persuasion from a dear friend that has sold on Etsy for years now.

3. What type of items do you offer?

Most of my items include collector dolls and décor that range from cute to grungy primitive.

I have a love for making fall and winter items, and am especially into display pieces like my candy corn mouse and Americana sheep door doll.

My dolls tend to have cute expressive faces and make great accents to a primitive home.

I am planning to include more hand stitched items like penny rugs soon.

4. How long have you been crafting?

I have had my hands busy ‘creating’ something since early childhood, which is quite a while ago!

My paternal grandmother originally peaked my interest in beautiful hand embroidery.

My mom taught me to sew, knit, crochet, paint, and on and on…we tried everything!

While my first attempts at clothing have been rather comical

(my hubby spared my feelings so graciously by wearing that knitted sweater with one looong arm),

I eventually grew to appreciate quilting.

Over time, all those perfect points and matching seams began to lose my interest,

and my tastes began to gravitate to projects that could be done quickly.

I started making penny rugs and discovered a lot of talent in the area of primitive dolls

and decorations that intrigued me.

All these years of not really having a ‘style’ of décor in my home, and it finally clicked…now

I just love anything primitive.

5. Who or What inspires you?

I’m very visual, so pictures really peak my interest.

I can spend hours going through my ‘library’ of creativity to find just the right project.

I am deeply inspired by talented designers and really enjoy

taking their ideas and making them my own.

6. What is your favorite item in your shop and why?

It changes with every product I make.

My latest needle felted pear really came together so beautifully, so it’s my favorite now.

My Finished Hutch Bottom and A New Selling Blog!

Hello,
Here is the bottom of my hutch all finished!!

I didn't go with punched tin, none of the pieces came in the size I needed!

I went with brushed bronze handles and what I believe is a type of radiator cover for the doors!

It is aluminum and is a matte black! I really like the way it turned out!

In Memory Of My Grampa Fisher

On December 28th, 2010

the world lost a wonderful man!

My Grampa Fisher passed away after a long illness

in a nursing home with his family by his side.

Though he was not my "real" Grandfather the name

"Grampa Fisher" suited him well!

He was loved by all and he may be gone but,

will NEVER be forgotten!

Vernon E. Fisher, 85, longtime resident of Merrimac, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010

at Maplewood Harborside Nursing Center in Amesbury.

He was the husband of Carole Ann (Barnes) Pratt.

Born in Haverhill on March 16, 1925,

he was the son of the late William R. and Iola M. (Huntoon) Fisher.

Mr. Fisher was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II

and had worked for the Town of Merrimac.

My Aunt Robin (by marriage), it was her Father and

during this time,

I ask that you all keep her in your prayers!

My Aunt is a wonderful woman and in recent years,

I have enjoyed having a closer relationship with her.

In my younger days when

I was young and stupid we didn't see eye to eye.

Over the last few years we have become closer

and this means a lot to me.

I think of her very highly, she is

strong, creative, funny, frugal

and so much fun to be around!

During this time she needs all the

prayers and love this world has to offer!

Auntie you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Grampa Fisher, I will never forget you and will miss you dearly!

Happy 2011 and Hutch Makeover!

I hope 2011 treats us all well, and if not we all have our blogging friends to lean on!

I spent last night in chat with some of the forum girls (we all have no lives yes we know lol)

Anyway, we got to talking about decorating and

Karen at The Barely There Primitive Bear was saying

we should just re-do the furniture we have...sooo I did!

I was checking out her hutch pictures and started looking at some on line and figured

I CAN DO THIS!!

Well, today it was in the 50's here so,

I dragged the hutch out side and sanded it and re-did the whole thing!!

I think it came out pretty good, if I do say so myself. =)

Thank you Karen for the kick in the butt lol!!

Thank you also to who ever said in chat

"What you do on New Years Day sets what you will do all year",

I thought that I would do something productive,
maybe I will have these days all year lol!

Anyway, onto the pictures: It is not complete I need advice for bottom piece...

On the doors where the holes are should I:

1) Curtains

2) New Wood

3) Chicken Wire

4) Any other ideas?

I also need knobs on it as well oh ya and,

maybe some decorations would be nice too lol!

Prim Pals Velentine Ornie Swap!!

We had such great response to our Christmas Ornie swap that we got together and decided to do a Valentine Ornie Swap. Many of us have little prim trees that we would love to decorate through the different holidays and seasons so here we go!

Sign ups are going to be taken from now until Sunday, December 26th.

For the Christmas swap we had three groups but this all depends on how many of us want to sign up. If you want to do more than one group, please let us know. A group will be no more than 10 to a group.

Names will be distributed on December 28th. Since this is getting close we decided that ornies should be mailed out NO later than January 15th. (confirmation is a must)

Postage of $8.00 should accompany your package. ($1.00 additional postage if you do more than one group.) Ornies do not have to be wrapped unless you want too BUT they should be signed so we know who made what. Ornies will be sent out on January 22nd. With these time restraints this should give us at least two weeks to display. (the next holiday should be better)

Tuesday's Display Chain, 2 Colors!

Once Again I have joined Misi's Tuesday Display Chain over at 1890 Gable House Musings! It is so much fun! This weeks theme was two colors which turned out to be more difficult than I had thought lol! I managed to find something though!! It was right under my feet the whole week literally lol!! They have just started this week to come out from my room to the rest of the house and it seems like they can be EVERYWHERE all at once lol!

I can not wait to see what is in store for next week! =)

The Mayonnaise Jar

When things in your life seem , almost too much to handle,
When 24 Hours in a day is not enough, Remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee..
A professor stood before his philosophy class
And had some items in front of him.
When the class began, wordlessly,
He picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students, if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured
them into the jar.. He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open Areas between the golf balls.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous 'yes.'
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand.. The students laughed.
'Now,' said the professor, as the laughter subsided, I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important things - family, children, health, Friends, and Favorite passions –
Things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, Your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and car.
The sand is everything else --The small stuff.
'If you put the sand into the jar first,' He continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life.
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
You will never have room for the things that are important to you.
So...
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play With your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out to dinner.
There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.
'Take care of the golf balls first --
The things that really matter.
Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.
The professor smiled.
'I'm glad you asked'.
It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.'

Tuesday's Display Chain, Only You!

Here is my gingerbread man I have had for almost 30yrs he was made by my Aunt Kitty! My Aunt Kitty died when I was young and this was something she had made me around the time she passed! I as a child slept with this every night and even into my adult years until I passed it to one of my children. He always made me feel safe and relaxed and holding him took me to a special place far away from the real world of which we live. I had a terrible childhood and at times I never thought the days would end, but they did and at the end I had him waiting to cuddle and wash away the day! I had never really thought about how much he meant to me until I saw this weeks display chain and I instantly thought of him. When I have friends over or even family they always say "Oh My You Still Have Him??" I proudly say "Yes I Do!" and I hear "Why?" and I reply "You just wouldn't understand!"~ I will keep him forever and ever and I hope my kids will keep him for me until after I am gone and keep my love and memory alive for him and Aunt Kitty until eternity! Aunt Kitty, Gingie and I are grateful to be a part of this Tuesdays display chain! Thank You So Much! =)
